Hj. Abdul Murad, a founding partner of ZMM, commenced his career with the Royal Malaysian Police in 1973. He read law at the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) graduating with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree in 1993, Master of Comparative Laws in 1995 and thereafter went on to embark on a post graduate Diploma in Shariah Law & Practice in 1999. Prior to early retirement, he served as a Prosecutor at the Magistrates & Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur from 1993 to 1995.
He was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1995 and has been in active legal practice for the last 23 years. Hj. Abdul Murad has led the Shah Alam Branch since 2001 and his areas of practice are mainly Corporate Legal Advisory, Commercial Contracts, Conveyancing and Banking Security Documentation. He also provides corporate legal advice to numerous private and public companies.
Hj. Abdul Murad served as Chairman of the Conveyancing Practice Committee (CPC) of the Malaysian Bar Council for two consecutive terms in 2010/11 & 2011/12 and is now serving his third term as CPC’s Deputy Co-Chairperson. He is a current member of the Solicitors Remuneration Order Enforcement Committee; panel member of the Legal Profession Qualifying Board Malaysia for Bahasa Malaysia Qualifying Examination; and was recently appointed as a member of the Solicitors’ Cost Committee pursuant to section 113 of the Legal Profession Act, 1976.
Hj. Abdul Murad is a member of the Focus Group in PEMUDAH on Registering Property (a Special Task Force under the Prime Minister’s Department). In addition, he is currently President for the Home Buyers Tribunal appointed by the Minister of Urban Wellbeing, Housing & Local Government
in January 2013. He has also been the de facto Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee at TPC Kuala Lumpur for the last 18 years.
